After Padua the tour brought
us to Verona,
where we had a couple of hours for a visit. The Greek theater was used for
concerts, so there was an installation there. The Roman
Theater could be visited, but we chose
rather to walk along the river and to visit the market, and the Roman Theater
is nice from the outside. Also we walked to the Romeo and Juliette house, but
didn’t stay there, just walked by. Of all the attractions in Verona, the balcony is the most touristy one,
but ironically the most known in the world. We purchased some delicious pizza
from the market and then had an ice cream at one of the cafes facing the arena.

I was upset leaving Verona,
as we had to rush to our next stop. We missed so many things in Verona, it would be
interesting to come back and to stay more.
Our next stop was San Marino, and oh my, it was beautiful there too. Our hotel for the overnight was in the castle. Although it was a 2 stars hotel only, it had all amenities. The room had everything we needed with the furniture in a very simple style, but who would complain? I opened the window and it just was wow! Fortunately we decided to purchase the stamps right while walking and visiting San Marino that afternoon. We also purchased some post cards with stamps on them. It is very important to buy a stamp there because it is a sovereign Republic. Although very small, the city owned a F1 tour downstairs in the valley in the town of Imola. The state itself is located on two cliffs joined in the middle and a very small part of the valley bellow. The views were fantastic. When we arrived in a restaurant with the views, all the tables in the first row were occupied, no surprise. I asked the waiter to add a table, and he was so friendly and attentive, he’s taken a table and brought it up to the highest point and above his restaurant, and so we could have a very privileged place to dine with an incredibly beautiful view. That was the most romantic location and we had the most wonderful dinner. The food was good too. We stayed there a couple of hours and until dark soaking in the nice weather and the views.
In the morning we were leaving early, and people on the tour
were very much disappointed as they couldn’t purchase the stamps, everything
was still closed when we left.
