Our honeymoon trip to Italy - Venice and Padua

In the morning after an early wake up call again, we had our breakfast at the hotel and I have to say the chef there didn’t know how to boil an egg. They were overcooked. We then went to our guided tour of Venice by bus then by boat. We arrived to piazza San Marco early and our guide was great and the tour was very interesting before we visited the inside of the Basilica, all golden and byzantine style. This was followed by a glass blowing store visit. The person blowing glass downstairs did great.

The glass in the store upstairs wasn’t his creation. I don’t like wine glasses that are colored. Of course these were particular to Venice, but they were charged with other beads, not my style. We had a gondola excursion planned and were sharing our gondola with the other Canadian couple only, while other boats were full, very romantic again. We then visited the piazza by ourselves and the Pont des Soupirs before a tour of Venice on our own. We walked in small streets and visited churches. Lunch in the Da Raffaele restaurant, was excellent with fritura mista for my husband and sea food for me followed by a cheese plate and desert. We then walked back to the campanile, our get together point. When we arrived to our boat, and after counting one woman of 80 years old was missing. We asked the guide to return to get her, but he explained the boat had no right to stay in Venice port, only to quickly pick up people. As we left the port he phoned the police.

We had our dinner included, but it was nothing memorable as expected, and then we decided to go to bed earlier since the next morning we had to wake up 6AM again. Some of our tour members were vegetarians, and they complained as they had to eat omelets every day. The police brought the 80 years old woman to the hotel around 9PM. She was shaken, as she didn’t see nor hear our guide at the campanile when we left, and remained there for a while. The police had found her and she spent some time at their post. What an adventure for her!
Some people joined our tour in Venice.

In the early morning we visited Padua with its Santo Antonio Basilica and a beautiful central piazza with white statues.
